WINNIPEG, Manitoba: On October 5, 2022, Winnipeg-based Quik-Therm Insulation was announced as one of the inaugural recipients of Efficiency Manitoba’s Innovation Fund for its Matrix all-in-one composite roofing insulation system. The funding will support what promises to be a home-grown product that will dramatically reduce the need for electricity and natural gas while increasing jobs, exports, and sustainable development.
Quik-Therm Insulation is a true innovator in the Canadian insulation industry. Over the past eleven years, the company has collaborated with many of North America’s finest Building Science organizations to design and develop several physics-based, multi-functional weatherization insulation technologies. With organizations such as the Canada Green Building Council and Passive House Canada behind them, Quik-Therm has garnered a reputation for excellence.
The Matrix, Quik-Therm’s latest roofing innovation, is an insulation system that installs quickly and achieves an R-52 rating without additional insulation, vapour barrier, or exterior sheathing. In addition to being highly efficient, it’s expected to be three to four times more effective than conventional pre-engineered systems. The Matrix system will also offer substantial cost savings.
“We’re excited about the early results from this project,” said Ted Cullen, Quik-Therm president. “The Matrix system offers superior energy saving performance, speeds, construction, and is environmentally responsible.” He also highlights the company’s plans to build a manufacturing plant that will support future construction projects and technology usage right here in Manitoba.
Efficiency Manitoba is Manitoba’s newest Crown corporation dedicated to energy efficiency. Quik-Therm Insulation was one of seven funding recipients for 2022. Efficiency Manitoba is currently welcoming applications to support the future of energy efficiency in Manitoba under year two of the fund. The deadline to apply is November 4, 2022.
